Did you know your mouth is incredibly susceptible to being infected by germs and bacteria?
Everything that comes in contact with it – from air to food and skin contact – poses a threat because the mouth leads directly into our bodies. Saliva exists to help protect our mouths from these infections, but oftentimes, this isn’t enough.
This is why dentists are so adamant about us following proper dental practices of flossing, brushing our teeth three times a day, using mouthwash, so on and so forth.
If you’re already doing all this, but still want to boost your dental hygiene, there is an all-natural method you can use to keep your teeth and mouth clean and healthy:
Gather coconut oil, sesame oil, and olive oil. Mix together one to two teaspoons of all three oils, and rinse in your mouth for about 20 minutes. Afterward, rinse your mouth with warm water to get rid of residual oil and germs.
The combination of these three oils disinfects your mouth, bleaches your teeth, and soothes any areas of your gum that might be irritated.
Coconut oil has anti-bacterial, soothing, and whitening properties. Sesame oil fights the bacteria that cause gingivitis, gum disease that causes them to become inflamed. Olive oil is anti-inflammatory and antiseptic, boosting your oral hygiene.
Together, these oils can help you get rid of bad breath, yellow stains, canker sores, plaque, and other dental problems.
This oil solution, however, cannot take the place of proper dental practices. Be sure you’re regularly flossing, brushing, and rinsing with mouthwash. Don’t smoke; drink less tea, coffee, and soda; and keep unnecessary things away from your mouth.
